How do I make a donation to the Louvre online?
Making a donation to the Louvre online takes only a few minutes.
To do so just follow these steps:
• Click on Donate online to go to the Louvre’s secure payment platform.
• Choose the purpose of your donation.
• Choose the amount you would like to donate. The real cost of your contribution after tax deduction is calculated automatically (applicable to French tax residents only).
• Choose your means of payment: you can make your donation by card, check, or bank transfer. Paying by bank card via the Louvre’s secure payment platform is the simplest and quickest means of making your donation.
How do I know if the Louvre has received my donation?
When you make your donation online with a bank card, the Louvre sends a message confirming that it has received your donation. When you make your donation by check or bank transfer, a confirmation letter and your donation receipt will be sent to your address about a month later. The number of donations being processed can delay sending your confirmation letter and donation receipt by several weeks.
When will I receive my donation receipt?
Your donation receipt will be sent at the same time as the letter of thanks within about a month. In very busy periods, it may take longer for us to send your receipt.
For donations made by check, the donation receipt will be dated the day the check is received, as confirmed by the postmark. In every case, you will receive the receipt at the end of the campaign before you have to fill in your next income tax return (applicable to French tax residents only).
How will my donation be used if the fundraising goal is exceeded?
Your donation is directed towards: “The acquisition, presentation and promotion of the Basket of Strawberries”. Should the fundraising goal be exceeded, the Musée du Louvre will use the funds raised for projects related to the artwork. In any event, the donor will not be entitled to request the return of all or part of their donation.
What happens if the Louvre does not raise the required amount?
If the Louvre does not succeed in raising the amount through donations, other projects will have to be delayed in order to allocate the funds necessary for this acquisition.
How do I dedicate my donation to someone?
When making your donation, you can choose whether you want your name to be included on the donors list, or whether you want to dedicate your donation to the person of your choice. If you decide on the second option, the name of this person will be included in the acknowledgements to the donors of the campaign and you can also ask for a donation certificate in their name. However, the invitations offered by the museum in thanks for your gesture will be addressed to you personally.
